About
For the last 20 years, I've either been working in a newsroom or pitching one. This wealth of experience has helped me to be crystal clear about the work I was put here to do.I founded Clayton Communications, LLC with a vision of bringing a heart-centered approach to each and every client and project I take on. What does this mean? I help brands that hold community, connection, and service at their core articulate their unique mission, vision, and goals, and translate that into a holistic communications strategy. My sweet spot is innovative and groundbreaking brands in the health, wellness, and food space, led by passionate professionals and entrepreneurs who have a vision of bringing about positive change in their industry and local communities. In short, I want to do good work for good people.
Services
Communications Strategy and Implementation:
All effective communications plans must start with strong foundational messaging. We’ll work together to boil down the essence of your brand into a core messaging framework, identify your goals, and then compile–and implement–a holistic plan. Tactics we might employ include but are not limited to:
Media relations (outreach/pitching, interview preparation, and messaging training)
Influencer marketing coordination
Organic social strategy and community engagement
Community relations/partnerships (research and coordination)
Internal communications
Corporate communications
Event planning
Thought leadership
Speech writing
Award submission
This service is best implemented on a 6-12 month retainer basis.
Product or Event Promotion:
Events and product launches need their own messaging framework and channel strategy. (Hint: they aren’t the same as your brand!) I’ll help you drill down to the core benefits of the event or product launch and develop a plan to reach your target consumer incorporating all or some of the tactics outlined above, ensuring your project gets off to a strong start. This service is best implemented on project fee, which may encompass 2-6 months, based on the scope of the project.
Copywriting
Do you have your communications strategy sorted out, but have trouble implementing some of the tactics? Maybe your emails aren’t getting written on time, or blog posts languish unfinished. Maybe your website copy needs a refresh, but it never becomes a top priority because you just…don’t want to? I can help. My copywriting skills are available on either a project or retainer basis, reduced from my strategic rate. Shoot me a note with your needs and we’ll get those tasks off your to-list.
